What Is Golf Fitness?


Many golfers might not even know the term golf fitness. It’s a term more common for personal trainers and fitness professionals, but it is becoming more mainstream in the golfing community. Is there even such a thing as golf fitness?

Let me explain.

Like any sport (and golf is definitely a sport) you need to “prepare your body to perform“. It is virtually impossible to expect consistently good scores and maximum distance if you don’t get your body in shape for golf. The stress and wear-and-tear the golf swing puts on the spine, lower back and all the major joints is unbelievable. It is brutal on your body.

Golfers play with injuries including lower back, hips, wrists, elbows, shoulders and even knees most of the time. I thought golf was a leisure game? Nope! The golf swing as mentioned above can literally destroy your body in a short period of time. The end result is not being able to play anymore, or making compensations in your golf swing for all those aches, pains and injuries.

With all this bad news there is hope.

If you partake in an exercise and stretching program specific to your golf swing you will avoid and prevent most injuries from every happening. You’ll also add many yards to all your drives as well as dramatically improve your consistency. You see…if you can strengthen and loosen up your golf swing muscles you’ll be able to perform a very efficient and repeatable golf swing. This will enhance your golf score and driving distance. If you can make a FULL backswing with no tension, you store maximum torque in your core area When the torque is unleashed into the ball, you will rocket that ball off your clubface! You will be hitting your shots longer and straighter than you have in years.

So yes…there is such a thing as GOLF FITNESS! There is no denying it anymore. If you want to achieve your FULL potential, you will sooner or later come around to this approach to your golf improvement or you’ll be left in the dust with all your golfing buddies. You’ll be the laughing stock of your group. Do you want that? I’ll bet not!
